Place Mat & Potholder Pattern

You Need: 2 skeins Color A for each place mat, 1 for each potholder and 1 skein Color B for edgings. Small amounts of Pink, Green and Magenta for embroidery.
Needles: One "Boye" or "Diana" afghan hook Size K, one crochet hook Size H and blunt-end tapestry needle

Gauge: 3 sts to 1"

PLACE MAT:
With afghan hook & A - ch 48. Work in afghan st for 26 rows. Sl st in vertical bar of each st across last row. Fasten off.

With Size H hook & B - work 1 row of sc around all edges with 3 sc in each corner, join & fasten off. Embroider flowers and buds in cross stitch following charts, spacing as shown.

POT HOLDER:
With afghan hook & A - ch 20. Work in afghan st for 14 rows. Sl st in vertical bar of each st across last row. Fasten off.

With Size H hook & B - work 1 row sc around with 3 sc in first 3 corners, then in last corner ch 10 for loop. Join with sl st to first sc, fasten off. Embroider in cross stitch as shown in photograph, turning bud chart upside down.
