Printer-friendly versionPrinter-friendly version

This is a great craft that kids can do with some help from an adult. No need to throw away broken crayons - recycle them into crazy crayons! You can separate the broken crayons into groups of similar colors or just mix them up to make crazy designs.

What You Need:

  • collection of broken crayons
  • any type of mold or muffin tin
  • oven mitt

How to Make It:

  1. Prepare the broken crayons for melting by peeling off any remaining paper and snapping them into smaller pieces.
  2. Heat the oven to 250 degrees F.
  3. Arrange your crayons in the mold you have chosen to use. Make sure to fill each one full.
  4. Put them in the oven for about 15 minutes or until the crayon pieces are fully melted.
  5. Let the crayons cool completely (about an hour) or you can put them into the freezer after they have set for a bit.
  6. The crayons should pop right out once fully cooled.

Time to color!
