Directions for sweater are for size 6-9 months; changes for size 1, 2, 3 and 4 years are in parentheses. Blanket measures approximately 36" x 36".

RED HEART® "Baby Econo®"-Sweater: 2 ½ (3, 3 ½, 4, 4 ½) Ounces No. 1001 White CA, 2 ¼ (2 ½, 3, 3 ¼, 3 ½) ounces No. 1987 Bathtime Print CB; Blanket: 9 ounces No. 1001 White CA, 8 ounces No. 1987 Bathtime Print CB.

Crochet Hook: 5.5mm [US I-9].

Yarn needle.

GAUGE: 14 sts = 4"; Rows 1-9 of Sweater = 3"; Rows 1-12 of Blanket = 4". CHECK YOUR GAUGE. Use any size hook to obtain the gauge.

To Fit Chest: 18 (20, 22, 23, 24)".

Finished Chest Measurement: 20 ½ (23, 25, 26, 27 ½)".

NOTE: Join and cut colors as required.

To Change Color: Work last st of row before color change required until 2 lps remain on hook, drop color in use, with next color to be used yo and draw through 2 lps on hook.

PAT 1: With CA, ch 1, sc in first st; * sc in next st, hdc in next st; rep from * to last st; sc in last st; turn.

PAT 2: With CB, ch 3, skip first sc; * skip next st, dc in next st, dc in skipped st working over dc just worked - CRDC made; rep from * to last sc; dc in last sc; turn.

SWEATER-BACK: With CA, ch 37 (41, 45, 47, 49).

Row 1 (Right Side): Sc in 2nd ch from hook and next ch, * hdc in next ch, sc in next ch, rep from * across; turn - 36 (40, 44, 46, 48) sts.

Rows 2 and 3: Work Pat 1.

Row 4: Work Pat 2.

Row 5: With CA, ch 1, sc in each st across and in top of ch-3; turn.

Row 6: Work Pat 2.

Rows 7-9: Work Pat 1.

Rep Rows 4-9 2 (3, 3, 3, 3) more times. Continue with CA only in Pat 1 until 9 (11, 12, 13, 14)" from beg, end wrong side row.

Shape Neck/Shoulders: Work in pat across 10 (12, 14, 14, 14) sts; turn. Dec 1 st at neck edge on next 2 rows - 8 (10, 12, 12, 12) sts. Work even until 10 (12, 13, 14, 15)" from beg. Fasten off.

With wrong side facing, skip 16 (16, 16, 18, 20) sts of last long row, attach yarn in next st, work in pat to end. Complete to correspond to first side.

FRONT: Work same as back until 8 ½ (10 ½, 11 ½, 12 ½, 13 ½)" from beg, end right side row.

Divide for Neck/Shoulders: Work in pat across 12 (14, 16, 16, 16) sts; turn. Dec 1 st at neck edge on next 4 rows - 8 (10, 12, 12, 12) sts. Work even until front measures same as back to shoulders. Fasten off. With wrong side facing, skip next 12 (12, 12, 14, 16) sts of last long row, attach yarn in next st, work in pat to end. Complete to correspond to first side.

SLEEVES: With CA, ch 21 (25, 25, 27, 29). Work Rows 1-9, then Rows 4-7 same as Back across 20 (24, 24, 26, 28) sts, shaping sides by inc 1 st each end of 3rd row, then every right side row 5 more times - 32 (36, 36, 38, 40) sts. Continue in Pat 1 with CA until sleeve measures 6 (7 ½, 9, 10, 11)" from beg. Fasten off.

FINISHING: Sew shoulder seams. Mark 4 ½ (5, 5, 5 ½, 5 ¾)" down from shoulders. Place center of sleeve top at shoulder seam and sew in place between markers.

Edging (Work around neck, sleeves and lower body edges): With right side facing, attach CB at a seam; ch 1, work sc evenly around; join with a sl st to first sc. Fasten off.

BLANKET: With CA, ch 107.

Row 1 (Right Side): Rep Row 1 of Sweater Back - 106 sts.

Rows 2-9: Work 8 rows Pat 1.

Rows 10-12: Rep Rows 4-6 of Sweater Back.

Rows 14-21: Work 9 rows Pat 1.

Rep Rows 10-21 of Blanket six more times. Fasten off.

Border-Rnd 1: With right side facing, attach CB in first sc of last row worked; ch 1, [(sc, ch 2, sc) all in sc for corner, work 103 sc across to corner] 4 times; join with a sl st in first sc.

Rnd 2: Ch 1, ** (sc, ch 3, sc) all in ch-2 sp, ch 3, skip next sc, * sc in next sc, ch 3, skip next sc; rep from * to next corner; rep from ** around to last 2 sc; sc in next sc, (ch 1, dc in first sc) to join and form last sp.

Rnd 3: Ch 1, sc over dc, ch 3, ** (sc, ch 3, sc) all in corner ch-3 sp, ch 3, * sc in next ch-3 sp, ch 3; rep from * to next corner; rep from ** around; join with a sl st in first sc. Fasten off.

Rnd 4: With right side facing, attach CA in any ch-3 sp; ch 1, * (sc, ch 3, sc) all in sp; rep from * around; join. Fasten off.

Rnd 5: With right side facing, attach CB in any ch-3 corner sp; ch 1, ** (sc, ch 3, sc) all in corner sp, ch 3, * sc in next sp, ch 3; rep from * to next corner; rep from ** around working (ch 1, dc in first sc) to join and form last sp.

Rnd 6: Rep Rnd 3.

Rnd 7: Rep Rnd 4. Fasten off.
