EMBROIDERY: Cut stencil from Chart. With contrasting color marking pen or chalk, mark 40 squares lightly in one direction then turn stencil over and mark 40 squares facing in opposite direction. All embroidery is done in chain stitch going in one direction. Stems and leaves are done first then starting outside marked edge, embroider flowers working toward center with colors indicated on Chart.

Join squares alternating direction of design, making 10 strips of 8 squares across. Sew first and 2nd rows of squares tog and embroider border design between, following Chart or cut stencil and mark. Continue joining 3rd and 4th rows the same. Join all strips and complete embroidery with the exception of first and last squares which are done after finishing.

Finishing: Crochet 4 rows of sc around with 3 sc in each corner. Complete embroidery of corner squares.

TASSELS: Wind Color B around a 3½-inch cardboard. Cut at one end. Fold 20 strands in half and wind strand tightly around 1 inch below top and tie securely. Make 32. Sew tassels in place as shown.
