Hat & Bag Set Pattern

You Need: 2 skeins for Hat & 6 for Bag
Needles: One each "Boye" or "Diana" crochet hook Sizes K & I

HAT

Gauge: 3 sc & 2 ch-1 to 2"

Note: Each ch-1 & each sc counts as 1 st. With Size K hook, starting at center of top, ch 3. In 3rd ch from hook work [1 sc & ch-1] 6 times: 12 sts. Mark beg of rows.

Row 2: [1 sc in next space, ch 1; 1 sc in next sc, ch 1 for an inc] 6 times: 24 sts.

Row 3: [1 sc & ch 1 in each of next 2 spaces, 1 sc in next sc, ch 1] 6 times: 36 sts.

Rows 4 & 5: * 1 sc in next space, ch 1, repeat from * around: no inc's. Inc 4 times evenly spaced on next row. Work on the 44 sts to desired depth - about 7½" from start, end [sl st in next space, ch 1] twice, fasten off.

FLOWER: Ch 2, work 12 sc in 2nd ch from hook.

Row 2: * In next sc work [ch 2 & 1 sc] twice, repeat from * around.

Row 3: * Ch 2, 1 sc in next space, repeat from * around, ch 2, sl st in next space, fasten off. Sew in place.

BAG

Gauge: 1 pat = 1"; 3 rows to 2"

Starting at top of front with Size I hook, ch 36 to measure about 13½".

Row 1: In 3rd ch from hook (yo & draw up a long loop) twice, yo & through all 5 loops on hook, ch 1 to fasten for a cluster, work 1 more cluster in same ch for a double cluster, * skip 2 ch, work 2 clusters in next ch, repeat from * across, end skip 2 ch, 1 dc in last ch: 11 double clusters, ch 3, turn.

Row 2: In space at center of each double cluster, work a double cluster, end 1 dc in turning-ch, ch 3, turn. Repeat Row 2 for pat,
working to 22" from start. Turn. Do not fasten off.

FLAP:
Sl st across first double cluster, ch 1, * work 1 sc in next space, 1 sc in top of each single cluster, repeat from * across next 8 double clusters, 1 sc in next space, ch 1, turn. Work on the 28 sc for 4". Dec 1 sc each side every row for 5 rows. Fasten off.

Fold bag in half bringing starting chain up to start of flap & sew side seams. On right side crochet 1 row of sc around flap.

HANDLE:

Make 30" chain. Starting in 3rd ch from hook, work 1 sc in each ch, end 3 sc in last ch; continue around other side of chain, work 3 sc in turning-ch then 1 sc in each sc to other end. Fasten off. Sew in place.
