Make squares of Bucilla "Wool and Shetland Wool," 2 oz balls;
or Bear Brand, Fleisher's or Botany Machine Washable Winsom, 2 oz skeins;
or equivalent

Use Crochet Hook, Size G or size required to obtain gauge

GAUGE: Each Square approximately 8 ins. square

Round 1–right side–With B, ch 5, draw up a loop in 2nd ch from hook, mark ch just used, draw up a loop in each of next 3 ch, yo and draw through all 5 loops on hook–1 pat. made, * ch 5, draw up a loop in 2nd ch from hook, mark ch just used, draw up a loop in each of next 3 ch, yo and draw through all 5 loops on hook; repeat from * twice more, join with sl st in first ch of first pat.; 4 pats. at center.

NOTE–Do not turn, continue around working all rounds from right side.

Round 2–Sl st along edge of first pat. up to and including first marked ch, * ch 8 for corner, sl st in marked ch of next pat.; repeat from * twice more; ch 8, join with sl st in sl st at top of first pat.; 4 corner loops.

NOTE–Draw up all loops in back loop of each ch for pat.

Round 3–* Draw up a loop in each of first 4 ch of corner loop, yo and draw through all 5 loops, ch 8 for corner loop, draw up a loop in each of last 4 ch of same corner loop, yo and draw through all 5 loops, ch 4; repeat from * 3 times more; 8 pats., 4 corner loops.

End each round with ch 4.

Round 4–* Draw up a loop in each of first 4 ch of next corner loop, to and draw through all 5 loops, ch 8 for corner loop, draw up a loop in each of last 4 ch of same corner loop, yo and draw through all 5 loops, ch 4, draw up a loop in each of next 4 ch, yo and through all 5 loops, ch 4; repeat from * 3 times more; 12 pats., 4 corner loops.

Round 5–* Work a pat. in first 4 ch of corner loop, ch 8, work a pat. in last 4 ch of same corner loop, † ch 4, work. a pat. in next 4 ch †; repeat between †'s once, ch 4; repeat from * 3 times more; 16 pats., 4 corner loops.

Continue around in this way, having 4 more pats. in each successive round, until 11 pat. rounds from beg. –about 8 ins. square, join last ch 4 with sl st in first ch of corner loop. Fasten off.
